Six Grad Gift Ideas

It is once again that season. The season where seniors graduate and move on to the next part of their lives, which means it’s also the season of grad parties and, more importantly, grad gifts.

But what do you get for one of your best friends? Something for their dorm/apartment? Something fun or something practical? Cheesy or touching?

If you need help deciding, here are six ideas for graduation gifts.

  1. Book of Pictures

A book of pictures with all your favorite memories throughout the years can be extremely touching and memorable. They can easily pack and store the book, too, so your friend can take it with them to college or their new house/apartment!

2. Picture Frame

This goes along with the first idea a bit, but a picture frame with your school’s colors, logo, name, etc. and a picture from when you met or when you graduated is another gift that can be touching and easily stored! It’s also a great way to remember a favorite moment or silly picture from your time in school together.

3. Bag/Suitcase

Getting your friend a bag or suitcase may seem a little unconventional, but it’s very practical. Whether your friend is moving in a few months or a few years, they’re going to need something to put their stuff in, and every time they use it they’ll think of you. Even if it’s fifteen years after you’ve graduated!

You can also make this gift fun by adding their favorite candy, snacks, or drinks on the inside and adding some fun touches like stickers or even paintings if you’re creative!

4. Lava Lamp

Lava lamps might not be the first thing you think of when you think ‘graduation gift’, but they’re fun and don’t have to be expensive! Some dorms may not allow them, but your friend can bring it to their first off-campus house. If you’re friend isn’t going to college or is graduating from college, that makes it an even better gift because they can use it right away!

5. Your College Hoodie

Exchanging college hoodies with your high school friends is a fun and touching way to end your high school years together. This can be a little expensive depending on how many people you buy one for, but your friend will think of you every time they wear it and vice versa. It’s also a great way to support your friend and their college!

And last but not least…

6. Money!

Giving your friends money might seem unoriginal and superficial, but money is something most college students and recent college graduates run out of very quickly. Your friend will definitely appreciate having some extra cash when shopping for their dorm/apartment or for fun experiences once they’re at school or in the real world.

If none of these ideas spark your interest, don’t worry! There are a lot of things you can give as graduation gifts, and, odds are, your friend will love whatever you give them because it’s the thought that counts.

Happy shopping!
